Before You Book A Decorator

Updated: Jan 1, 2020

Choosing the right decorator for your special occasion can be the difference between having the time of your life or having a potential nightmare.

Before you book an event decorator there are 3 key steps you should take before you make a final decision.

License & Insurance

A licensed and insured decorator is ultimately the best option for your event. A decorator who carries insurance eliminates your liability if any of the decorations, drapes, etc cause injury to your guests. Also, checking their license status online will ensure that you are working with a decorator who cares about their professional status.

Do Your Research

There are several ways you can do research and make an informed decision about an event decorator.

  • Online Reviews on Google, Yelp or other online platforms

  • Review images on social media/website or see their work in person

  • Word of Mouth - Ask a friend or speak to prior clients

  • Determine if the decorator has enough staff, especially for large scale events

What's The Story?

Set up a meeting with the decorator to learn more about them and their experience. Meeting in person always helps determine whether your decorator will be a good fit to work with throughout the duration of your planning and event execution. Important questions to ask...

  • How long has the decorator been in business?

  • Is this their PASSION...or just a side gig?

  • Is the decorator easily accessible by phone/email? (Response time is important)

  • What other services does the decorator offer that will help eliminate the need for additional vendors?
